The Christian life by some is thought to be abstract, knowing that the Bible contains the information to accomplish the major goals of the Christian life but it almost seems dated. It is true that things are differnt now than they were during the writing of Scripture but don't you think God knew that? Of course He knew, therefore He didn't leave you in the dark. Knowing what to do and how to act is key to living the Christian life. There are specific goals for each believer, so there are specifc goals for each moment. If you are asked to submit a report to your employer, you should do it "heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord will receive the inheritance as your reward." There is no mandate or Scripture that requires you to submit that report, on time and in the form requested. But this is the application of many more general teachings of Scripture. Not every instance is covered in Scripture but the principle for every action and decision can be found. We are to do ALL THINGS for the glory of God, which includes the little things because the journey toward reaching the major goals of the Christian life requires many little steps.

Sometimes it feels like my life is full of little steps. Checks of my to-do lists, completion of assignments, 30 minutes spent doing one thing, 1 hour spent doing the next thing. How encouraging to be reminded that God cares about me being faithful in the small tasks.
I love the title of your blog. To think that Peter was probably tired, hungry, discouraged, and just ready to get to shore after fishing all night, but he said, "at your word" and did what Jesus said. He was faithful in that small task, that one step, and God gave such a blessing for his obedience.
Thank you for these encouraging words!
These words are encouraging, especially where we are all at right now. At 3 different universities, we all have tons of little things to do in preparation for the "big things" or God's "real plan" for our lives but that just it. The little things are God's plan for our lives, His plan for today.
Also...it's this philosophy in life, along with many other things, that qualify you to marry my sister, but even more so to marry the daughter of our daddy who looks at the efforts, care, and devotion even to the "small things".
